Abstract:
The Victorian government has recently announced their off shore wind auctions, revealing ambitious determination to develop offshore wind energy in the Gippsland region, contributing to Australia’s Net Zero goals and national energy security.
Wind accounts for 16% of Australia’s electricity production, and it is evident that it will continue to provide clean and reliable energy for the nation despite the challenges. The latest offshore wind auction announcement further confirms Australia’s strategy to move away from gas and coal. Offshore wind developments in the Gippsland region will complement the existing onshore wind projects, and harness wind and many other opportunities in the 15,000km2 licensed area.
